I Told Myself I Was Only Killing Time — Then Eggy Car Quietly Took Over Again
There’s a special kind of lie we tell ourselves when opening a casual game.
“I’m just killing a few minutes.”
Not relaxing. Not committing. Just… passing time.
That’s exactly the mindset I had when I launched Eggy Car this time. No expectations. No goal to beat my record. I wasn’t even in the mood to be challenged. I just wanted something small to occupy my hands while my brain slowed down.
Instead, I ended up fully focused, emotionally invested, and once again negotiating with gravity like it could hear me.
The Comfort of Familiar Simplicity
What keeps drawing me back to this game is how familiar it feels the moment it starts. There’s no learning curve anymore. I know the rules. I know what will end my run. I know exactly how embarrassing my mistakes are going to be.
That familiarity is comforting.
The car moves forward. The egg rests on top. The road stretches ahead without explanation or promise. No distractions, no clutter, no noise telling me how to feel.
